Welcome to another listing from Colin's Bike Shop.I restore worthy bicycles from the 1970's through the early 2000's. I have been servicing bicycles since 1986.
For your consideration is a Raleigh Technium Pro, made in Seattle, Washington, around 1988. It is made of a combination of Easton E9 aluminum and chro-moly steel. It is fitted with Shimano 105 components. It has a 7-speed cassette but I have tuned it to friction shifting and for 6 rear speeds (12 speeds all together). Every part was disassembled, cleaned and then reassembled. It has new tires, tubes, brake hoods, cables and cable housing, and handlebar tape. Wheel bearings are new. Headset re-greased.
This is a 59cm frame, which is 23.25 inches. Standard road bike geometry. It is considered a Large frame and would fit riders between 5'11" and 6'3".
If you live in Maryland, Delaware or Pennsylvania, consider the local pick up option, at no cost. I am happy to box it for Shipping, with no charge for the box or boxing labor. The shipping cost of 0 is the actual cost, using Bike Flights and UPS Ground. I use special bicycle boxes from Uline and will bubble wrap all tubes and components.
I have had several Raleigh Techniums over the years and never had any failure with the aluminum/steel composite frames. They were well-assembled and over-engineered, in my opinion. Miyata of Japan, at the same time, also made similar bicycles, as well as Univega, under the Nuovotech name. Bicycles of this era were made of high quality materials, and are easy to repair, which is why I prefer them, compared to modern bicycles (from China). If well taken care of, these types of bicycles generally have an indefinite lifespan.
